For children
WISE (WIJS) is a Wednesday afternoon club for children in Dutch schools in Ypenburg and Leidschenveen. There are two groups: one for children in Groep 3 and 4 (14:30-15:30) and the other for children in Groep 5 and 6 (15:45-16:45). The club is run by Inclusion4all in conjunction with Stichting Recht and senior volunteers. The club offers multilingual children extra support in technical reading, reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary and mathematics. The cost per child for 10 weeks is €25 which should be paid in full at arrival for the first session. Information in English and a Registration Form can be found here: (opens a new webpage outside of Inclusion4all): http://hecht-lvyp.nl/wijsinenglish/
For Senior Citizens
How does it work? Twelve children join a group on Wednesday afternoons for an hour. There are two groups every afternoon. The children attend for a block of 10 weeks. The volunteers from the local area are there to help with the children’s spoken Dutch through conversation, reading and games.
What do we need? WIJS is looking for senior citizens who speak Dutch at (near) native level and who have an affinity with young children.
Where is it? WIJS takes place at Inclusion4all’s centre, Vuursteen 8 in Ypenburg (in the shopping centre).
Contact? If you are a senior citizen and would like to volunteer, please email info@inclusion4all.com
WIJS is a initiative of HECHT and Inclusion4all, who work co-operatively. Subsidy for WIJS has been given by Gemeente Den Haag, VSB Fonds and Fonds 1818.
