I host weekly meet-ups for international parents on Monday mornings from 9.30 – 11.30. The language of the group is English and the group is intended for international families in The Netherlands. Dutch international families are also welcome! Parents are welcome to bring their children, as there is a play corner but you may also attend without your child!
These meet-ups are a chance for parents to share their joys and frustrations with other parents who understand. The meet-ups also give opportunities for parents to share resources and ideas, ask questions and give each other tips. Most of all, they are an opportunity to relax, have a coffee and chat to other parents.
The coffee meet-ups are also arranged so that parents of children with special needs can meet each other and so that children with special needs can meet and play with ‘typically developing’ children. It could be that you have a child with an attention deficit disorder, a genetic disorder, dyslexia or dyscalculia, a physical disability, a hearing loss or a language delay. All children are welcome at the coffee meet-up.
The meet-ups are informal, with no training or organised themes. If you have concerns about any aspect of your child’s development, language, social skills, behaviour, you may share these informally in the group as other parents may have ideas to help you.
The second Monday of the month has a special focus on autism and raising a child on the autistic spectrum. More information here
The coffee morning is free; a donation of €5 towards costs is appreciated.
The coffee meet-ups are held in Ypenburg: Vuursteen 8, 2496 RZ Den Haag. There is an easy tram connection between The Hague and Delft (Trams 15 and 19) and it is close to Bus route 30. Ypenburg is easily accessbile by car via A4. There is free parking in the Plesmanlaan and surrounding streets. There is paid parking by the Jumbo supermarket but the cost is low.
